House of Clouds Vape Wire

November 16, 2017 3 min read

House of Clouds Vape Wire landed late 2017. House of Clouds decided to bring in its own branded wire. Why? I hear you ask. Well after years of trying to get different gauges in Kanthal, Nichrome 80, 316L Stainless and also a struggle to find Flat Ribbon Wire in the Australian market we decided that we would bring in our own and offer them to our customers at an affordable price.

If you are like us and go through a tonne of wire, then building coils should be a  cost effective and fun way to vape.  After sourcing and trying many different makers of wire we stumbled across the wire we now sell, and WOW it's definitely up there with best competition in the Market.

We looked at all the factors when we chose this wire, from how it was milled, its composition, how well it had been spooled, how it came off the spool, how workable the wire was and also how it vaped!

Simple introduction to Vape wire

Kanthal A1

This the most commonly used wire and great beginners wire for a large range of pre-made coils

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel wire is a great vape wire to work with as it has quick ramp up time and is a wire that can be used in both Temperature control and Wattage

Nichrome N80

Nichrome N80 Vape wire is another wire with a quick ramp up time but has a lower resistance than other wires.

Kanthal A1 Wire

Kanthal A1 resistance wire is a composition of (FeCrAl alloy) iron-chromium-aluminium. Kanthal is stronger than other wires and the workability improves with lower gauges. Great wire to build with and more forgiving than Nichrome 80 and less chance of causing you hot spots when dry frying your coils.

  • Easy to work with
  • Holds its shape and form
  • Variable wattage
  • Inexpensive

Stainless Steel Wire

Stainless steel 316L Wire is more resistant to general corrosion due to its higher level of molybdenum. 316L is a great substitute for kanthal A1. You will get a cleaner and crisper flavour from 316L as opposed to Kanthal A1.  316L resistance wire is great to work with when building any coils for RDA/RTA/RBA builds.

  • Fast ramp up time
  • Holds its shape and form
  • Easy to work with
  • Suited for both VW and TC

Nichrome N80 Wire

Nichrome 80 is composed of about 20% Chromium and 80% Nickel-Cr20Ni80. This wire is perfect for rebuilding your atomiser sub-ohm coils. This wire has a low resistance which may not perform in standalone standard builds. Nichrome 80 is a great wire to use as cores or multi-strand for thinner gauges.

  • Fast ramp up time
  • Easy to work with
  • Holds Show and form
  • Has a lower resistance and Melting point.

Vape Wire Gauges

This typically refers to the diameter of the wire which is called the gauge and is determined by a numeric value. For example,  24 gauge, 26 gauge etc. This is important to know as it is a bit of a reverse meaning when it comes to diameter verses gauges. For example, if you have a 22 gauge wire the diameter is larger than a 24g, 26g, 28g and so on. The higher the gauge, the thinner the diameter. When wire sizes increase the resistance of the wire decreases. Thin gauge wires like 34 and 38 will be higher in resistance but will heat up quicker than a 22 or 34 gauge wire.
